The Buffalo Common Council passed a resolution asking the state to give more power back to judges.

Council members and residents addressed concerns they have about the new criminal justice reform laws.

Councilman Joel Feroleto said there have been several problems since the first of the year, where judge weren't able to set bail for major crimes.

"I think a judge should have the ability to set bail, and right now a judge cannot set bail on some of the hate crimes and some of the vehicular crimes that have resulted in death,” he said.

The council will submit its resolution to the state Senate majority leader, the Assembly speaker and Governor Andrew Cuomo.
