The road to Houston is nearly 1,500 miles long. But considering that’s a 23-hour drive, it might be easier to take a flight to see the Bills play the Texans on Saturday.

Taking a flight Friday to Houston with two stops, and coming back Sunday, starts at $507 round trip per person.

"There's $1,000 round trip per person on Southwest," said Elizabeth Carey with AAA Western and Central New York. "But, it's limited availability. You can tell Bills fans were out booking these flights last night."

The drive, in addition to taking a full day, will cost about $130 in gas, she said.

After arriving in Houston, fans will need a place to stay.

The closer to the airport, the cheaper the rate, Carey said. Some rooms were available Monday for as low as $30 a night.

"There's a Days Inn for $59," she said. "You can get a Hilton for $89. So there are some pretty reasonable rates."

There should be plenty of room for everyone. According to the city's tourism agency, Houston has more than 80,000 hotel rooms, with 8,000 located downtown. AirBnBs are as low as $60 a night.

For those arriving early or staying late, there are plenty of things to see and do in Houston other than football.

“We have a lot of travel books geared toward Houston," Carey said of AAA’s travel offerings. "They have a lot of museums, a lot of museums for the space industry, if you want to add a little educational aspect to it."

Then there’s the game itself. On the NFL ticket exchange, tickets start at $90. Carey has some advice on that.

"Do it through a reputable source," she said. "There's always the situation where you go online and you get there, and it's not valid."
