Western New Yorkers will be ushering in 2020 with one of the largest ball drops in the country.

The 32nd Buffalo Ball Drop at the Iskalo Development Electric Tower will have live entertainment and a firework display with more than 5,000 fireworks.

City officials and sponsor M&T Bank are expecting large crowds. Buffalo police say they will have heightened security and are asking people not to bring large bags.

There will be free parking at the Fernbach and Turner Ramps.

AAA, a sponsor, is encouraging people to find a safe way home with its designated ride-sharing drop-off/pick-up spots. People can catch their ride-shares along Pearl Street at W. Chippewa and W. Huron Streets.

Every year, the event raises money for the Buffalo Police Athletic Club, which improves the  life of youth through sports programs with law enforcement.

Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown invites everyone to come out to celebrate with them.

“As we continue to build our city and region, each year offers unique opportunities to look ahead to the wonderful moments that await us in 2020,” said Brown.  “We had a great 2019 in Buffalo and Western New York and we want an even greater 2020.”

The show kicks off at 10 p.m.
