Attracting new businesses is a key part of Niagara Falls' revitalization. But sometimes new businesses need a helping hand.

The Falls has a new barbershop thanks in part to a grant from the NFC Development Corporation.

Tuesday morning was the grand opening for Ninja Stylez on Main Street.

The owner, Marlon Grant, moved to Niagara Falls from Jamaica.

He was able to realize his dream of opening a business with the help of a nearly $7,000 Micro Enterprise Grant through the NFC Development Corporation.

The not-for-profit was created by the Falls City Council back in 1980.

These days it offers grants and loans to help potential businesses get to the finish line, creating jobs and contributing to economic development in the city.

"We as a community have come a far way since I've been here. There's a lot of new businesses, which I'm very proud of. And the community is actually building very fastly. Congrats to the mayor and everybody who put in the work for us to keep motivating, pushing as a community to move forward and build a better Niagara Falls,” said Grant.

Ninja Stylez is open to everyone. One half of the business is set up to serve men, the other for women.

Grant says he's looking for employees, both barbers and hairdressers. Anyone interested in applying can stop into the shop at 1220 Main Street.
