GREENSBORO, N.C. -- On Sunday, friends and family gathered to remember former senator Kay Hagan.

Her funeral service was held at First Presbyterian Church downtown Greensboro.

Hagan died in her Greensboro home on October 28, after three years of battling Encephalitis.

Her close friends say they will always remember the impact she had on people.

She will be buried in Greensboro on Monday, surrounded by family and friends.
