As we head into the colder months it's a good time to start thinking about taking up a new hobby.

A new ceramics studio that opened in Kenmore offers classes for people of all ages and skill levels.

When you walk into Terra Clay Studio you may come in with no knowledge of ceramics, but by the time you leave, you walk out with your own masterpiece.

The studio started spinning its wheels a month ago, opening up on Delaware Avenue and offering a variety of different classes.

"We offer classes for everything from children to adults, we offer sculptural classes, wheel throwing classes, hand building classes, really anything that you can think of exploring with clay, we offer," said Jody Selin, Terra Clay Studio co-owner.

Selin has been teaching ceramics for more than 20 years.

She wanted to be able to offer up a service like this to the community that comes with many benefits.

"First and foremost it's really relaxing, it's great to be creative, it's great to use your brain in a different way than you normally have to a lot of people are stressed out and we're moving at such a pace nowadays with phones and media, there's so much out there that this slows you down and you're able to kind of lose your inhibitions I guess and you just kind of get creative," said Selin.

Co-owner Amanda Schober says they're seeing people want to get their hands dirty.

"The great thing is that I think Buffalo is becoming a more art-focused community and a lot more people want to find other things to do and you know by Terra Clay Studio opening up in the Village of Kenmore I think it makes it a little more accessible for people to walk in right off the street and see what we're all about," said Schober.

But if you're still on the fence, they can help.

"That's exactly why we have our ‘try it classes’ which are two hours, we teach you the basics and from that we actually have a lot of people that sign up...it's just a way to dip your toe in the water and see if it's for you," said Schober.
