Another candidate is throwing his hat into the ring to replace Chris Collins.
Frank Smierciak II, 28, of Lancaster announced late Sunday that he is running to represent New York’s 27th congressional district.
The election for a full term is in November 2020, but with Collins’ resignation last week, there will be a special election to fill out the remainder of his term.
Smierciak labels himself a conservative Republican and said he wants to bring conservative leadership to Washington.
He joins an already crowded field with fellow Republicans Chris Jacobs, Rob Ortt and Beth Parleto, as well as Democrat Nate McMurray.
Possible candidates also include Medal of Honor recipient David Bellavia and Erie County Comptroller Stefan Mychajliw.
If Smierciak wins, he would be the youngest member of Congress.
