The best of the best in foliage will be seen this weekend for much of the Adirondacks. Peak color can be expected for Saranac Lake, Lake Placid, Keene Valley into Old Forge.
Expect scenes like the one below (minus the double rainbow) around the Adirondack Loj.
Depending on where you are in the southern Adirondacks, you will see near peak to peak color. Areas around Lake George are seeing a 50-70 percent color change. If you are around Lake Pleasant, Indian Lake, or the Newcomb region, you can expect scenes like the one below.
Parts of the Catskills will see near peak to peak color this weekend. A good chunk of Delaware, Greene, Ulster, and Sullivan county will see up to 80 percent color change. Surrounding valley areas will see 50-65 percent change.
Leaves in the greater Capital Region, Saratoga region, into the mid-Hudson Valley, have undergone a good amount of change since last week. Some of the hill-towns are seeing up to a 60 percent change.
The Finger Lakes region is looking a little brighter this week, especially out toward Cortland where foliage is at the midpoint.
Areas from Utica, to Syracuse to Rochester are only seeing a 20-35 percent chance, but there is still some nice color to be had, especially north of Syraucse.
While the Chautauqua-Allegheny region is at the midpoint, if you head north to Buffalo-Niagara Falls region a 20-35 percent change has occurred.
Our friends in Vermont are seeing peak to near peak color as well. This weekend will probably feature some of the best scenes of the season across the Green Mountains.
While not peak color, some amazing color will be had in the valley locations as well.
Areas across Maine, New Hampshire, into the Berkshires, are also seeing near peak to peak color, especially across the higher terrain.
Overall this weekend is looking pretty nice weather-wise for a hike, walk, gondola ride, or scenic road trip. Saturday will feature abundant sun and crisp air. While Sunday may feature a few isolated showers — do not let this deter you from any outdoor plans!
