Action is being taken following an uproar over a proposed school bus garage in Cicero. Onondaga County Executive Ryan McMahon gave a major update on the project while in Brewerton on Thursday.

The bus garage will be moving to the town of Salina on Lemoyne Avenue. It’s a new location that all seem to be happy with, including McMahon, who says the new location is one of several parcels.

Developer Greg Cleghorn of Cleghorn Properties says the Salina location will be much closer for Syracuse and Cicero students, proving to be a much more ideal location.

McMahon noted the site has the proper zoning thus there is no need for a variance change.

“It was a better fit, it was a no brainer,” said McMahon. “You make new friends all the time when these things come up, and the way you approach these things determines what kind of success you have."

The Cicero town supervisor also praised the new location, saying he was against the proposed Cicero location from the start.

Construction is expected to be completed by the fall 2020.
