A playground for all — that’s what the Explore & More Museum unveiled on Wednesday morning.
Their new exhibit will be a community treehouse that is the first indoor playground of its kind in Buffalo.
The special treehouse will have a wheelchair lift, that way a child who’s never been in a treehouse before can get the opportunity.
It will have all ADA compliant access points, but they will be masked so kids won’t be made to feel different.
Sponsored by the Buffalo-based Person Centered Services, which provides care for 17,000 people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, it is designed to be accessible for all, regardless of physical or developmental challenges.
It’s also designed so parents or caregivers with disabilities can be a part of the play.
It’s something that gives kids of all abilities a chance to learn, grow, interact with each other and have fun.
It’s the museum’s first temporary exhibit that will be here for two years.
It will then be disassembled and moved to another location within Western New York so kids everywhere can enjoy it.
All kids are invited to use the playground.
It’s expected to open in January.
