Local leaders in the North Towns are making it clear white supremacy is not welcome in their communities.

They plan on writing new legislation to combat it.

At the end of July, a number of homes and businesses in the Town of Tonawanda, City of Tonawanda and North Tonawanda had flyers posted on doors.

One of those areas was Main Street.

Local leaders believe it was an attempted recruitment effort by Racial Nationalist Party of America, Aryan Renaissance Society and the KKK.

The fliers were inviting residents to an event on August 31 in Indiana.

Community leaders said this is the fifth known door to door canvassing in the area.

They said they condemn these acts and will not stand for it.

Moving forward, they will be introducing new legislation that condemns white supremacy.

Local leaders said they are “committed to eradicating the effects of past systematic racist practices and stand united.”
