A man was killed after a crash with a tanker truck in Ellington early Friday morning.
New York State Troopers from the Jamestown barracks were on patrol when they came across a crash.
A NOCO gas tanker was on its side and in a ditch on Route 83 around 1:30 a.m. Friday.
The driver of that truck told troopers the driver of another vehicle, identified as Ramon Spunaugle, 23, of Conewango Valley, was heading south when he crossed into the tanker’s lane. The tanker driver could not avoid the crash.
Spunaugle, who was driving a Jeep Grand Cherokee, was alone in his vehicle and was declared dead at the scene.
The driver of the tanker truck was able to get out of his vehicle unassisted.
Route 83 has been closed since 1:50 Friday morning and will remain closed between Hunt and Church roads as the scene is cleared.
