Police are investigating after a woman and her 10-year-old daughter were found dead inside their home in the Bronx—and a man is hospitalized with a gunshot wound to his head, according to police.

Officers were called to the apartment on Belmont Avenue shortly after 1:30 p.m.

Upon arrival, police discovered both the child and her mother unconscious and unresponsive, according to authorities.

Sources tell NY1 that the incident is believed to have been a murder and attempted suicide by the 32-year-old man who is believed to be the father of the girl.

Police say he has been taken to a local hospital where he is being treated for a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

According to police, three other children were in the house at the tie of the shooting,but all of them were unharmed.
