A documentary on one of the victims of Flight 3407 has won at its first film festival.

"Sing You a Brand New Song — The Words and Music of Coleman Mellet" beat out 20 other documentaries at the New Jersey International Film Festival.

Coleman "Coley" Mellett was one of the people killed when Flight 3407 crashed in Clarence Center in 2009.

This is the first film festival they've entered.

His widow has also entered the documentary into the Buffalo Niagara International Film Festival. 

Those selected to participate will be notified next month.
