BOWLING GREEN, Ky. - Fruit of the Loom announced it is going to cut approximately 100 jobs, mostly at its Bowling Green headquarters.  The company is transferring information technology services to Wipro Ltd., an India-based company that specializes in IT, consulting and business process services.

Fruit of the Loom says the transition begins immediately and will continue through March. Most of the jobs cuts are taking place in Bowling Green.  Worldwide the company has about 28,000 employees, including 1,000 in Bowling Green.  Fruit of the Loom closed the Jamestown, Kentucky plant in 2014, eliminating 600 jobs.

Fruit of the Loom makes underwear, clothing and sports equipment under various brands. Berkshire Hathaway Corporation bought the company in 2002 for $835 million.
