Looking up from the base of Niagara Falls, it’s a misty 167 feet, but now you can visit another attraction in Western New York that will take you 242 feet in the air.
Six Flags Darien Lake has introduced its new ride, the SkyScreamer.
“[The SkyScreamer is] a 242-foot high swing ride that takes you up in the air 24 stories,” said Six Flags Darien Lake Communications Manager Mike Arena.
Once locked in, up to 32 passengers are lifted into the air and spun at 35 miles per hour in a 98-foot circle.
“When it goes up, and then when it goes up it kind of goes fast. It really is exciting and fun and I'm not scared,” said Ava Hackett, 9, of the three-minute ride.
In addition to the thrill, you'll get a one-of-a-kind view, seeing as far as the Buffalo skyline.
"So when you go up, and you're spinning in that circle, you're getting views of not only Darien Lake, but Western New York that you've never seen before. You can see our different attractions throughout the parks, our lakes, our camp grounds, surrounding fields, all around the surrounding area here at the park. It's really something that people have never seen at Darien Lake before," Arena said.
If you want to try the ride, it opens to the public Saturday. Six Flags Darien Lake is open on weekends until June 14, when it will open daily.
