Three priests in the Catholic Diocese of Buffalo have been placed on temporary leave after an incident at Saints Peter and Paul Parish Rectory in Hamburg.

Diocese officials said the men were involved in inappropriate and insensitive conversations during a social gathering with seminarians and priests earlier this month.

Christ the King Seminary launched an investigation after several seminarians reported the conversations, which they found offensive. Details of what was said have not been released.

Bishop Richard Malone has put Father Arthur Mattulke and Father Patrick O’Keefe from Saints Peter and Paul Parish and Father Robert Orlowski from Our Mother of Good Counsel in Blasdell on temporary leave while disciplinary actions are taken.

Diocese officials said the complaints against the three men do not include any physical or sexual abuse.
