Autism rates are on the rise, according to the Centers for Disease Control.

The CDC says the developmental disorder impacts an estimated 1 in 59 children in the U.S. That's up 15 percent since 2012.

That's why the Town of Wheatfield wants residents to know local organizations are around to help. Public and private agencies were at the Wheatfield Community and Senior Center Saturday night to share their services.

This comes after the town passedan intiative last year with the goal of helping those with Autism and special needs.

"It's a growing number of people who are being diagnosed with Autism and just letting things be more available to them is important," said Comprehensive Planning Implementation Task Force volunteer, Rita Kontak.

If you have a child with Autism, Autism Services, DDA Western New York and People Inc. provide services for employment, health care and recreation.
