A fire at the McKinley Mall started in the back room inside the New York & Company store and was quickly extinguished by the mall's in-house sprinkler system.
Hamburg police confirmed reports of a fire around 9 a.m. Thursday — roughly an hour before the mall normally opens for business.
A few people were inside at the time, but everyone was evacuated safely and no injuries were reported, officials said.
The mall will open at 12 p.m. for the day. New York & Company will remain closed Thursday, officials said.
