One door closed on Saturday as the Explore and More Children's Museum gets ready to open their new location at Canalside this spring.

"Today is the last public day for [the museum] in East Aurora, and we're all here to give hugs and kisses to the exhibits we've enjoyed for years," said Jeannine Weber Kahabka, museum director of marketing & public relations.

Those exhibits will now have a new home at the Children's Activity Corner of Jamestown.

"So right now it's 2,000 square feet in two rooms of play space, they're going to be expanding to 8,000 square feet and they're going to be taking the majority of the exhibits here at Explore & More. We couldn't be more thrilled," Kahabka said.

And while Explore & More is sad to leave East Aurora and see the exhibits go, they're happy to provide play time for even more kids.

"I know when we go visit them at the new Jamestown Children's Museum we're going to see them and recognize them, and feel that nostalgia and familiarity," Kahabka said.

For parents that have watched their kids grow with the museum it's a bittersweet moment for them, but they're excited to make new memories in the new space.

"It's going to be a little sad, there's a lot of memories here, but thankfully we have photos and memories that will last forever," said Mary Celani, Explore & More Children's Museum social media coordinator.
