Winter will end eventually, bringing with it renewed concerns about flooding along bodies of water.

It’s something people who live along Lake Ontario will be watching closely.

Right now, the International Joint Commission, the group tasked with monitoring the waterways between the United States and Canada, only has two members and cannot take any actions on anything pertaining to water levels.

The commission is supposed to have six members. Two new members were nominated last year by President Trump, but the Senate hasn’t confirmed either candidate.

Rep. Chris Collins is leading a group of Republican legislators in calling on the Senate to act now before flooding begins.

Jane Corwin, a former state Assemblywoman who represented the 144th District, was nominated last summer to serve as the commission’s chair.
