The Monroe County Heroin Task Force is providing a clearer view of their fight against the growing opioid epidemic in its first year.

Since February 1, 2018, there have been more than 1,100 reported overdoses in Monroe County, 159 of which were fatal.

The task force confirmed Tuesday that it has executed 76 search warrants and collected more than 1,800 grams of heroin or fentanyl off the streets.  That's the equivalent of more than 31,000 thousand bags. Guns, money and other drugs were also recovered.

In all, 94 people have been arrested.

The task force is a collaboration among all of the area's police agencies, the District Attorney's office and community partners. It supports non-profits that offer treatment and outreach services, and criminal investigations.

The DA's office says the information coming from the collaboration helps prosecute dealers, who have faced homicide charges for selling drugs to those who overdosed and died.
