Looking for a family-friendly way to ring in 2019?

First Night is back for a 30th year at the Buffalo Niagara Convention Center, as Independent Health hosts the area’s biggest alcohol-free party that’s open to everyone in Western New York.

New this year will be laser tag, ComedySportz and more rides and bounce houses.

Popular attractions like the Bubble Black Light Dance Party and drum line DownBeat Percussion will be returning.

To finish things off, there will be a countdown and balloon drop at 9:45 p.m., early enough for the little ones to be part of the excitement.

"We're looking for families, you know parents and grandparents, to be great role models for their children,” said Carrie Meyer, Independent Health’s executive director. “You can go out and have a great time and celebrate but you do not need to have alcohol or drugs to have fun, and that's what we're trying to showcase."

The event runs from 5-10 p.m.

Tickets will be available at the door or can be purchased in advance here.

For those attending, there will be free parking at the Fernbach and Main Place Mall parking ramps.
