Meet Amara, the Buffalo Zoo’s newest addition.

Amara is a two-and-a-half month old ocelot kitten and will make her public debut Saturday.

Ocelots are a vanishing animal and her birth was part of a species survival program run by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums.

“The cool thing about ocelot kittens is they have bright blue eyes when they’re born and over time, as they grow and mature, they don’t have as beautiful blue eyes as when they’re little,” said Christian Dobosiewicz, the zoo’s communications manager. “It’s cool to see the kittens when they’re here because they have a cool face.”

Amara will be on display as a part of the zoo's Rainforest Falls Day celebration.

The zoo’s gates open at 10 a.m.
