The Town of Niagara police chief has addressed an investigation on Pretoria Street that drew some speculation this week.
Officers and state troopers spent parts of the last two days searching a house and property there.
Early this morning Town Police Chief H. James Suitor said no crime was committed at the location.
He says his department received information a crime may have happened in the house, but an investigation found that not to be the case.
The police presence over two days had neighbors wondering what was going on.
"Information was forwarded to our agency about the 'possibilty' of a 'potential' crime scene," he wrote. Suitor says the investigation took that long because of the seriousness of what was reported.
He added that collaboration with other departments, including state police and the Niagara County District Attorney's office, happens on a regular basis. "Sometimes, it's just not as obvious as today."
