BUFFALO, N.Y. — In what seems to be a growing trend, another movie is being shot here in Buffalo.

"Bashira," a horror film written and directed by Nickson Fong, held a casting call all weekend. Fong has worked on projects such as Starship Troopers, 1998's Godzilla and The Matrix.

Producers welcomed hopeful extras at Park School. Those who tried out say having these shoots closer to home is great for the community.

“It’s fantastic. I don’t have to be in L.A. anymore, I can be here where my daughter is," said actor Jack Hunter. "Yeah, it’s fantastic. The activity here is just amazing and some folks are getting more work here than people in L.A. are.”

“This is really cool, you know? I’m glad the folks can come out from Buffalo and come here and act and do things they love to do," said actor Nahum Brydges.

The movie is about a musician and a fan who end up in a hallucinogenic nightmare where they must face an ancient being.

It's scheduled to be released next year.
