Erie County Medical Center is marking its centenary, serving Western New York for 100 years.
ECMC provided a special commemorative book outlining milestones in its history during a celebration over the weekend.
“It just brings tears to your eyes,” said Donna Oddo, ECMC’s nurse and care coordinator. “The way that you can celebrate with a family, just the joy of having their loved one be with them still, just brings tears to your eyes every time. It’s not a job, it’s a family.”
ECMC was called the Buffalo City Hospital when it opened in 1918.
It is now the only Level One Adult Trauma center in Western New York.
