BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Barely an hour after the Cincinnati Bengals helped punch the Bills ticket to the playoffs, Zach Krieb called up his friend and tattoo artist Scott Howard.
He wanted to commemorate the end of the team's 17-year playoff drought.
"We ended up going with the dessert, being in the drought with the buzzards by the sun and "trust the process" on the bottom was icing on the cake," said Howard.
Friday morning after a couple of different designs and four hours of tattooing, Howard's masterpiece was complete and Krieb had a permanent reminder of playoff glory.
"Ever since I can remember watching the Bills, they haven't been in the playoffs. The Bills, they're not going anywhere, they're our Bills so what's a tattoo right?" said Krieb.
While the Bills will stick around, that hasn't always been the case for head coaches. The team has had nine coaching changes during the drought, so we asked if he'd have any regrets if McDermott's tenure is short-lived.
"He's the one that did it. Doesn't matter, five years 10 years he's the one that got us over the hump," said Krieb.
McDermott led the Bills to a 9-7 record, but it was Bengals QB Andy Dalton who threw the touchdown that sealed the deal.
"We were talking about that we should have put him in there somehow there's a sun we should have put him in the sun or something to give him that nod," said Krieb.
