PITTSFIELD, Mass. -- A man was shot and killed by police after authorities say he charged at officers with a knife.

Police went to a home on Taylor Street just before 1 p.m. Friday for a domestic incident. According to Berkshire County District Attorney David Capeless' office, witnesses say 36-year-old Daniel Gillis was distraught after he was fired from his job Friday and was intoxicated.

Officials say Gillis barricaded himself in the home with a knife, then went outside and charged at PPD officers. He was then shot by Officer Christopher Colello. The DA says the incident was captured on video taken by a bystander.

Massachusetts state police are investigating the case.
