CATSKILL, N.Y. -- Catskill and state police are actively searching for a Greene County man wanted on attempted murder charges stemming from a shooting.
Authorities say 38-year-old Paul "Pablo" Maldonado of Leeds intentionally shot someone he knew outside of a bar in the village of Catskill early Monday morning. Police say he should be considered armed and dangerous; however, they add they do not think the public is in danger. The NYPD has also been alerted to the situation, because it is believed he has ties to the New York City area.
Spectrum News is told one shot was fired and a gun has not been recovered.
“They were friends. They were acquaintances. They got into a scuffle; we think it's over a female,” said Catskill Police Chief Dave Darling. "The scuffle escalated. The one guy started to run and the other guy took a shot at him."
We’re told the victim was brought to the hospital in fair condition.
Maldonado was last seen driving a white 2014 Lincoln MKZ with New York plates HEV3606.
Anyone with information of his whereabouts is asked to call the Catskill Police Department, Greene County Sheriff's Office or the state police.
