CLARENCE, N.Y. -- Anthony Parisi says he's been waiting for someone to buy the former Old Red Mill restaurant next door to his family's copier business for two years.

"I would love to see something that matches the building across the street, that matches our building, just in the aesthetic of it. Something that looks nice instead of something that's been closed and for sale, kind of just sitting around unfinished," said Parisi, of Brian Parisi Copier Systems.

Now, Parisi's wait may be over. Town officials say they may be one step closer to having a new owner for the property.

"To the best of our knowledge we received information that there has been a new owner interested in buying the building. I don't believe it's closed yet, but we have received information through architects that they are going to do some projects, whether it's remodeling the building, adding onto it and revamping it into another possible restaurant," Senior Code Enforcement Officer Dave Metzger said.

Metzger says they've been aware of the condition of the property, but nothing justified a fine. Now, the town is just crossing its fingers for the sale to go through.

"I spoke to the owner myself in the last couple of weeks and he did state that there was a closing coming up very shortly. And the information we have from the architect is to be able to provide us with information as far as the history of the property and to be able to look at what his opportunities are, and to be able to remodel the building and make it into something viable for the Town of Clarence," said Metzger.

The realtor did not immediately return a request for comment.
