FULTON, N.Y. -- The city of Fulton is moving forward with plans to complete demolition of the former Nestle site.
The city council approved a motion Friday to accept bids for remaining work at the site.
The mayor says most of the site is gone already, but there are still some buildings left, including one close to Route 481.
Bids will be accepted through the 18th, with a contract awarded shortly after.
The building along 481 will be demolished within 60 days of that, with the remaining buildings coming down by the end of the year.
After that, the city will be able to consider new development.
"Right now we expect mostly retail," said Fulton Mayor Ronald Woodward Sr. "We do have some other people looking at it, of course I'm not going to say who they are right now. Of course they don't want to go in until the buildings are down and it's cleaned up."
The mayor says one building, far from the main site, will be saved to house a Nestle museum.
