BUFFALO, N.Y. -- David State, David Rodriguez, Nona Watson and Rishawn Sonubi were all nominated by Mayor Byron Brown to the Buffalo Municipal Housing Authority board. Their backgrounds include urban planning, tenant engagement, public authority law and accessing federal funding.
"We're going to be looking at a variety of different strategies to bring new resources and innovative thinking to the Buffalo Municipal Housing Authority," Brown said. "These board members and these volunteer advisors will give us the ability to do that in a very expeditious way."
Brown supports the idea of increasing mixed-use housing and affordable housing projects as the city develops.
The appointees have to be approved by the Buffalo Common Council. That is expected to happen on Tuesday.
Brown says Dawn Sanders will continue on as executive director of the BMHA. If approved, the board will hold its first board meeting on August 10.
