GREECE, N.Y. -- A Greece Town Justice is filing suit as Democrats accuse the county Republican boss of overreach.

According to county Democratics, Greece Town Supervisor and Monroe County Republican chair Bill Reilich took illegal action by replacing Judge Gino Nitti on the Republican Party petition.

This came after he was unanimously endorsed at the local GOP convention.

Democrats say Reilich put Greece councilman Brett Granville on the petition in violation of New York State Election law.

In the lawsuit, Judge Nitti is seeking to invalidate that petition.

Reilich did not immediately returned a request for comment.

Nitti was endorsed by the county Democrats Friday. They released a statement saying in part, "Bill Reilich’s improper reach into the judiciary cannot be tolerated and is not only an insult to his constituents in the town of Greece, but to all of the Monroe County Republican Committee members whose voice in this process was summarily dismissed by the man they vote for to lead their organization."
