NEW YORK - The Central Park Zoo is sticking some new feathers in its cap and calling them macaroni.

A group of six Macaroni penguins have started chilling out in the zoo's Polar Exhibit.

The Wildlife Conservation Society says the three males and three females were brought from San Diego and Montreal for breeding.

They join four other penguin species in Central Park.

They're nicknamed "Macaroni Penguins" because of their distinctive yellow crests.

This species is rarely seen in North American zoos, and are native to the Antarctic region and the southernmost part of South America.
