BROOKLYN , N.Y. - Police are investigating after a couple was shot and killed in Brooklyn early Friday morning.
Shotspotter alerted officers to a shooting around 4:45 a.m. on Cleveland Street near Linden Boulevard in East New York.
Police believe the pair left a nearby nightclub and got into an SUV parked on Cleveland, when a gunman fired 13 bullets into the vehicle.
The driver, Devon Hannibal, 27, and passenger Christina Stubbs, 23, were hit several times.
They were pronounced dead at the scene.
Police believe Hannibal was the intended target, but don't think his death stemmed from anything that happened in the club.
"We spoke to one of the security agents there. He says there were no problems prior to that. Very broad street, there are a lot of cameras here. We'll know more as the morning pushes forward," said NYPD Chief of Detectives Robert Boyce.
Police say Hannibal was a Brooklyn resident and Stubbs was from Florida.
