SPECTRUM NEWS VIDEO: A worldwide cyber-attack that began on Friday showed the vulnerability of personal and business computers. The virus, known as “WannaCry," paralyzes computers and demands a ransom for data to be unlocked. Since Friday, it’s affected computers in 150 countries at hospitals and businesses, as well as personal computers. The attack preys on vulnerable computers using an old version of Windows on Microsoft systems. Microsoft released an update in March that consumers were urged to use on their systems to avoid being vulnerable. Security experts at GreyCastle Security in Troy say despite this virus not being spread through a link, there are still steps to take to stay protected.
