WEST CLARKSVILLE, N.Y. -- Police said an Olean woman, charged with murder along with her son in the shooting death of an Allegany County man, did have some sort of relationship with the victim, Royce Chapman.
Chapman was found dead in his Route 40 home just after midnight Wednesday. He was 57.
Ray Chapman lives right across the street from his late brother.
"Very tragic. You know, you never think of something like this would be happening, even in this small town," said Ray.
"It's really shocking and disturbing, both. I never thought in a million years it would have, you know, turned out the way it did," said Anthony Cicarelli, neighbor.
"Hopefully, justice will be served. Very out of the ordinary for this area for something like this to happen so, it's one of those things I guess you just never know," said Cicarelli.
Chapman's death is the third recent tragedy to hit the family.
"This family's always been pulled together. We lost our mom just last Thanksgiving, lost a brother just days over a year ago and then having this happen, it just, it hits hard at home," said Chapman.
The family met with the funeral home Thursday to make final arrangements.
In the meantime, both Joseph and Mosher are held with bail set at $100,000 bond. Both are due back in court Feb. 15.
