CHERRY CREEK, N.Y. -- By a vote of 70 to 32, residents chose Thursday to dissolve the village of Cherry Creek into the town that shares the same name.

The vote will be finalized next week. After that, village leaders will work to consolidate services with the town.

There's no timetable for when the move will be complete.

In the last nine years or so, there have been 52 dissolution votes across the state. Cherry Creek is the 20th of those municipalities that have decided to go through with dissolving.
