Two schools in Queens are collecting formal dresses in the hopes that a new generation can wear them on the dance floor.

Joan England's 4th Annual PROMises Moves & Motions dress drive is taking place at three locations, including one in Middle Village and another in Glendale.

What's collected will benefit financially disadvantaged students in Brooklyn.

Students will get to pick out a free prom dress, shoes and a handbag during a boutique-like event to be held in April.

The drive's co-organizer said that prom is a rite of passage and that it's exciting for them to help these young ladies get to their big event.

"Every girl dreams of that prom dress and hair and make-up, the whole excitement of the day, being with their friends," said co-organizer Jodi Fera. "That's just part of high school, a tradition that's been around for as long as most people can remember."

The donation sites in Queens are 74-02 Eliot Avenue in Middle Village or 70-20 88th Street in Glendale.

The drive will run through March 25.
