Two young girls are dead following a radiator explosion inside a home in the Bronx.
The FDNY says it responded to a call of a medical emergency just after noon at a home on Hunts Point Avenue near Faile Street in Hunts Point.
When they arrived they found the girls ages one and two unresponsive — with severe steam burns to their bodies.
They were rushed to Lincoln Hospital where they died.
Witnesses tell us what they saw.
"I heard a loud commotion, my dogs started barking, so as my dogs started barking I had come out and I was coming down the stairs and I saw the father with the two kids in his hands," said one witness.
"The babies came out they were burnt all over their body, burnt blue, so it's not a fire, so its steam coming from somewhere, they got burnt somehow," said another.
It is unclear if the girls died from the steam or shrapnel from the explosion.
NY1 has reached out to the Department of Buildings who says they are investigating.
