An overnight house fire in the outskirts of Broome County has leveled a home. Camille DeLongis was at the scene alongside in the town of Triangle, and has the latest.

TRIANGLE, N.Y. -- An overnight fire in the town of Triangle has left a home in ruins.

The fire started around 3 a.m. on South Street. By the time it was over, the blackened structure was laying flat on the ground with smoke billowing from the house.

The Triangle fire chief says no one was home at the time, because the family had recently purchased a home.  But they were still in the process of moving, and lost most of their belongings.

"This is probably the worst devastation you can probably go through, because they lost everything.  I mean it's terrible," said Triangle Volunteer Fire Department Chief Glenn Pahlmann.

Firefighters are planning to return to the scene later today to make sure it doesn't rekindle.  That's when they'll also begin their investigation.
