Troopers issued a total of 230 tickets across the state during their five-day enforcement period of the "move over" law. That's four times as many tickets than a typical one-week span.

According to Governor Cuomo -- the Hudson Valley saw the most violations in New York state -- with 96 tickets.

The campaign, which ran from Monday November 14 through Friday November 18, aims to protect law enforcement and emergency responders when they are stopped on the side of the road.

Since the law took effect in 2011, more than 77,000 tickets have been issued.

November 14 – November 18 “Move Over” Violations:

  • Capital Region – 57 tickets
  • Central New York – 60 tickets
  • Hudson Valley – 96 tickets
  • Western New York – 17 tickets
