After months of construction, the reconfigured I-890 interchange is now complete in Schenectady.

The $4.6 million project at Exit 4 removed the inner loop of the two-loop interchange and involved the construction of two new ramps for drivers on the outer loop to merge onto I-890. Previously, drivers had to cut across several lanes of traffic to get onto 890.

State Transportation officials say they hope this will ease traffic concerns and make the roads safer.

The project also involved replacing large overhead sign structures at the interchange, as well as making repairs to the drainage system.
