SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. -- A fire at a Saratoga Springs restaurant spread to a number of nearby buildings, displacing five families living on Caroline Street.
The fire broke out Thursday morning around 2:30 a.m. at Mio Posto Restaurant on Putnam Street.
When firefighters arrived, they realized the fire had spread to other buildings nearby.
Everyone was able to get out safely.
Most of the serious damage appears to be at Mio Posto, with some minor damage to the other buildings.
"It was a nightmare to tell you the truth, for a few minutes there. We were able to confine it to the vacant building, we do have some damage to the side buildings to the one side, the restaurant to the one side and two business and the apartments to the other side,” said Saratoga Springs Assistant Fire Chief Peter Shaw.
The fire doesn't appear to be suspicious.
