ALBANY, N.Y. -- The Times Union reports the three people accused of leaking the 911 tape involving former Troy mayoral candidate Jim Gordon were arraigned on Friday.
That tape depicted a phone call from July of 2015 of Jim Gordon's wife reporting a domestic incident.
It was released by the Times Union just weeks before Troy's mayoral election, which Gordon lost to Patrick Madden.
The Times Union reports that three men are accused of conspiring to steal that 911 tape from the Troy police detective bureau; Ronald Fountain, a retired Troy detective, Gary Gordon, a former district attorney's investigator and one-time candidate for Rensselaer County Sheriff and Shane Hug, a former assistant district attorney.
According to the TU, the sealed indictment was handed up to the Supreme Court, but a judge from Greene County had to be called in to open the indictment and arraign the three.
The Times Union reports they were charged with petit larceny, conspiracy, public corruption and criminal solicitation. All were released on their own recognizance.
We reported to you in March of this year, that Troy Police Sgt. Tim Colaneri requested the tape just days after the call was made.
At that point, Colaneri was suspended without pay while his involvement in the leak was investigated.
The Times Union does not mention Colaneri in their article.
We've reached out to Rensselaer County District Attorney Joel Abelove who said he's not permitted to discuss the merits of the case and wasn't available for an interview.
Meanwhile, Jim Gordon says he's letting the charges speak for themselves.
We'll continue to bring you updates on this case as they become available.
