FAYETTEVILLE -- The Salvation Army in Fayetteville is now accepting requests for Christmas help following Hurricane Matthew.

About 1,500 families are in need of items for the holiday season, showed up to the facility on Bragg Boulevard. Organizers tell us that with the storm's devastation, the need is even greater this year.

"We're relying on the community for help for donations of new toys and clothing for these families that are going to need help this Christmas," said Christina Trantham of the Salvation Army.

"It feels like it's a blessing. It's the grace of God and it's a good thing, it's a positive thing," said Renada Dodson, a Salvation Army applicant.

Those applying for a little extra help this holiday season will need proof of residency, income, and bills they need paid when registering.
