Six people have been charged with allegedly stealing from elderly nursing home residents.
Attorney General Eric Schneiderman says five are health care workers from Queens, Brooklyn, the Bronx and Long Island who allegedly exploited their patients by accessing their personal information and stealing their money.
One worker, Jason Battaglia, allegedly stole a necklace from a 95-year-old female resident.
In two of the cases, prosecutors say Sandra Rivera-Tapia of Brooklyn worked as the director of social work in Queens and allegedly stole nearly $7,500 after taking a resident's ATM card and PIN number.
And Nathalie Germain of Brooklyn allegedly worked as a certified nurse's aide in Manhattan and stole more than $6,500 from four different residents.
The attorney general's office says the six are being charged with a mix of grand larceny, identity theft and petit larceny charges.
