MAINE, N.Y. -- Two people are hospitalized following a serious crash in the town of Maine.
Authorities say two cars collided head-on on the 1600 block of East Maine Road just after 4:30 p.m. Tuesday.
One driver, a male, suffered what are being called moderate to serious injuries.
The other driver, a female, was trapped in her car with very serious injuries.
She had to be cut out of the vehicle by rescue crews.
Officials say it's a delicate process, but one they are prepared for.
"We train regularly with the emergency squad so that they know what we are going to do, and nothing is done without the medical approval of the paramedics on the scene," said David Silverstein, Maine Assistant Fire Chief.
There's no word on the current conditions of the victims.
The sheriff's office is still investigating the cause of the crash.
