CONKLIN, N.Y. -- A fire was quickly put out Thursday morning at a home on Barbara Avenue in Conklin.

It was reported just after 10 a.m.

Fire crews believe at least two people were home when the fire started, but no one was injured.

The fire started on the second floor.

There is heavy fire and smoke damage upstairs, as well as smoke and water damage on the first floor.

Conklin Fire Chief Bill Gorman says the home belongs to a member of the Conklin Fire Department and has already been flooded twice.

"Unfortunately it was holy crap, you know, how much more can they take, you know," Gorman said. "It's, like I sad, it's a sad situation."

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Red Cross was also called to the scene to assist the family.
